- Connect the red (positive) cable to the dead battery's positive terminal (+), then to the working battery's positive terminal (+).
- Connect the black (negative) cable to the working battery's negative terminal (−)
- Start the working car and let it run for 2–3 minutes.
- Start the dead car. If it doesn't start after a few attempts, wait another few minutes and try again.
- Disconnect cables in reverse order — black from metal, black from working battery, red from working battery, red from previously dead battery.
- Drive for at least 20–30 minutes to let the alternator recharge the battery.
Important: Always check your vehicle's owner manual, some modern vehicles have specific jump start procedures or jump start terminals located away from the battery.
